Sculptural Hardwood Side Table by Logniture

NOTE: This piece is part of ongoing series. Each piece is unique on its own. While they are all based on the same design model, they will slightly differ in wood grain, tool marks and natural cracks. Purely architectural in its thinking, this side table is built from solid timber with a deliberate, stacked geometry that gives it the presence of a small monument. The upper block overhangs the lower with a precision that feels considered rather than accidental, and the shadow line created between the two masses adds a depth that makes the piece read differently as the light changes throughout the day. The deep ebonized finish brings out the linear grain of the timber in striking relief, the fine parallel lines of the wood surface running across every face with an almost graphic quality. Natural checking and subtle surface variation keep it from ever feeling mechanical. A piece that works equally well as a stool or a side table, and sits with authority in almost any setting.
